‘The contemporaneous era is a DIGITAL ERA’ and the information technology acts as a key catalyst for all forms of the evolution in this emerging era.
Achariya Arts and Science college prognosticated this much earlier and laid the foundation for the Department of Information Technology in the year 2005. The department grails with endeavour to provide the knowledge in cutting-edge technologies of information technology with the aid of dynamic and dedicated faculty members with specialization in wide areas including Artificial Intelligence, Networking, Databases, Data Analytics, Web Development and Cloud Computing.
The department has its own well-furnished computer laboratory with facilities that are indispensable to train the students in the state-of-art software and hardware. The department envision to sharpen the skills of the students to fulfil the supposition of various industries by offering several courses such as Cyber Security, Mobile Hardware and Technician, Internet of Things, Advanced Python Programming, Android Application development etc., in association with SEED (School of Employability and Entrepreneurship) along with their regular curricula.
The department leave no stone unturned to reach the latest technology and advancements in this field to the young aspiring minds by inviting the corporate legends, & experienced academicians to provide guest lectures, seminars, webinars such as Induction Programmes, Career Orientation Workshops and National level Symposium Digitrix and also through participative learning approaches such as group discussions, project works, assignments, quizzes, case studies etc., through Achariya Informica Club.
The academic proficiency of the students is marked by their good performance in the university examinations and the students bagged 6 gold medals too. The department also stimulates the career opportunities of the students through innovative teaching pedagogy and so the graduates from this department has been placed in leading corporate companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Accenture, CSS Corp, Cabgemini, Sutherland etc. even before they complete their program.
To stimulate the thirst for the students in new trends the department organises various Industrial visits which is a part of regular academic curricula. To note few, students visited Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (ISRO), Trivandrum, Kerala, Point Perfect Technology & Services, Coimbatore to learn ODDO software Technology etc.,
Apart from the academic activities the department has also marked its height in the extra-curricular activities which is evident from the awards received by the students for several state and national games such as Athletics, Martial Arts, Viti Dandu, Hockey, Kabbadi, Wrestling, Dragon Boat etc.
No doubt that the Department of Information Technology is striving hard to emerge as a centre of excellence in leveraging information technology to bridge the gap between academics and industry with the vision of applying knowledge of technology in the young minds.
