About the Department

The department of Commerce was established in 2004 and has been providing quality education right from its inception. The vision of the department is to produce efficient and responsible administrators and entrepreneurs and the mission is to ensure quality education and morally eminent graduates. The academic structure of the program B. Com is meticulously designed to enrich the students with a strong foundation in Accounting, Management, Marketing, Law, Finance, Banking, Taxation, Entrepreneurship and Economics. The program is structured to meet emerging industry requirements both theoretical and analytical in the commerce field whereby, the students’ horizon to pursue higher education and professional courses would be widened. The department lays emphasis on more number of students getting through the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and Foundation courses of ICWAI at the undergraduate level.

Faculty members of the Department have organized National Level Seminars and Conferences on topics like ‘Entrepreneurship a Road Map to Economic Growth and Development’, ‘recent trends in Management’ and ‘Recent Paradigm Shift in Finance & Management’.  The department has organized a two day E – Certificate program on the ‘Futuristic Portfolio of Commerce’ and webinars on ‘Personality Development’, ‘Co-operatives’, ‘Career Guidance for Commerce Students’ and ‘Recent trends in Indian Economy’. Guest lecture has been organized by the faculty on ‘Entrepreneurial Development Skill’, ‘Issue of Shares’ and ‘Recent trends in organizational practices in India’. Department has also organized industrial visits and skill projects. The department has taken the initiative to organize an intercollegiate event every year, THE ACHARIYA BUSINESS LEAGUE (ABL) in order to create an opportunity to accelerate the hidden talents of the student community. SEED courses were introduced in the year 2012 and students are motivated since then, to make use of it and enhance their employability skills. The Achariya Chamber of Junior Commerce Club (ACJCC) was started in the year 2018, in the department of commerce to enable the students to exhibit and enrich their talents. The department had made arrangements along with the placement cell for a Virtual Campus Interview conducted by Sutherland Global Services and twenty students got placed. Our students also got placed in Infosys and McKinsey.

The students of the department are very dynamic in displaying their skills and have won laurels to the department. Students have participated in intercollegiate events and won the overall trophy in ‘COMMET-2020’ organized by St. Joseph College. The student Archana from the department of Commerce has bagged the first prize in the National level essay competition conducted by the Social Justice Ministry and was awarded a cash prize of ₹100,000 for her essay on ‘Personality of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’.
