The Department of Commerce and Management is one of the pioneering departments of ACHARIYA Arts and Science College which came into existence in the year 2004. 

The booming growth of Commerce and trade in the world arena has led to create the demand in need of skilled candidates especially from the field of commerce & Management.

The Department of Commerce & Management offers three Courses at UG level and one Course at PG level namely

Entrepreneurship Cell to foster entrepreneurship at Grass root level.

ACHARIYA have also extended its collaboration with Skill India along with ICT & NSDC to equip the students by conducting short term courses in  Retail Business, GST, Accounting Tally Package, IOT Industry 4.0,NSE, NISM, CAT, MAT etc.

The Department conducts a prestigious inter college annual event ACHARIYA Business League (ABL) to support the students in intellectual, personal, interpersonal and social skills with an emphasis on Holistic Education. 

The department aims to provide, students with the knowledge, proficiency and courage to meet the challenges of the modern-day business organizations. It also aims at enhancing employability preferences of the students

The curriculum offers a carefully selected subject blend of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Tax, Marketing, Statistics and Law. 

The curriculum helps to instill learning ability among students for up skilling and re skilling even in later part of life.

The Department organizes regularly National level Seminars, Workshops, Conferences and Webinars on the recent topics to acquire updated knowledge in the field of commerce and management.

Department of Mathematics

Mathematics is the only domain of study where imagination plays an indispensable role than knowledge. Thus the study of mathematics begins in minuteness but ends in magnificence.

Such prerogative mathematics was set into action as a department of Mathematics in the year 2004 with well experienced and Qualified Faculty Members.

Students Achievement 3 GOLD MEDALS from Pondicherry University in the Department of Mathematics consistently.

In addition from its inception in 2004, 14 Batches of students have excelled with High Pass Percentage. 

All these students were provided with value added courses from SEED (School of Entrepreneurial and Employability skill Development) every semester. These courses include Tally, Desktop publishing, call centre training, computer application, laptop and mobile phone servicing, Big Data Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Cloud Infra.

This relay of shouldering the student community will continue to produce proficient graduates who will be Professional Entrepreneurs and Skilled Employees to render their service at each and every level of the society.

With this additional qualification our students have 90% Placements in the core technical jobs offered by MNC’s like TCS, WIPRO, INFOSYS,CTS, SUTHERLAND GLOBALS.

So far 2 Major Conferences, 6 Guest Lectures, Webinars, 10 Industrial Visits and ILATE Maths Club activity were organised by the Department of Mathematics for Students exposure.

In Sports, our Students belong to the Batch 2013-2016 has won I Prize in National Level Hockey Tournament.

Through NSS two of our Girl students have attended National level NSS Camp at Himachal Pradesh and Daman.

Department of Computer Science proudly organizes National Level Inter collegiate Annual Event DIGITRIX to equip the student with updated knowledge and wisdom in the field of information technology.

The Department organizes more frequently National Level Seminars, Symposiums, Workshops, Conferences and Webinars on the contemporary topics in the field of Computer Science. So far 25 such Seminars and Conferences organized successfully.

Department of Bio-Technology

Biotechnology started to roll on as a separate discipline in July 2005 offering B.Sc. Biotechnology.

It has wide application in the areas of Pharmaceutical, agricultural and environmental Studies.

With an increase in the level of experience there is abundant scope for getting fatter pay cheques in this exciting and inspiring profession. 

Well – equipped laboratories, qualified and experienced faculties and enriched departmental activities empower students to compete in the global arena.

Department has organized more than 20 Guest Lecture/ Seminars/ Webinars at National and International level.

Faculty and students have participated in more than 100 inter and intra collegiate seminars/ conference/ workshops.

Department has an excellent record with 8 Gold medals from Pondicherry University, 60% of Post graduate and research careers and 40% of placement.

Department of Visual Communication

The Department of MULTIMEDIA (Visual communication) bloomed in the academic year 2008, after a prolonged deep study on visual media and its existence as an industry.

This course introduces students to communicate in a creative and innovative perspective through visual imagery and media.

The students are enabled with the technological innovations along with strong literature base, which comprehends them to have an Alternative Perspective, enabling them to make aesthetic presentation of the reality using global strategies.

Since inception from the batch 2008 our students bagged 8 Pondicherry University Gold Medals.

Department of English

The Departmentof English had its inception in the year 2009 and is led by a vibrant, aspirant and experienced faculty.

The course with its titleA English is the culmination of both teaching language through literature and appreciating the aesthetics of literature through language.

The Department aims to motivate the students in exhibiting and exploring a wide range of new ideas in literature from the ancient to contemporary. In addition, our students are also provided with value added courses from SEED (School of Entrepreneurial and Employability skill Development) every semester.

Our students have secured 2 GOLD MEDALS from Pondicherry University.

From the year of inception, we have an average of 80% Placements in the core platforms offered by MNC’s like TCS, Infosys, WIPRO,SUTHERLAND.

We have successfully organised and attended seven Webinars, fifteen Guest Lectures, ten Seminars and fifteen Workshops. Apart from this, our students are frequently exposed with the scope in higher studies by participating in orientation programmes from SI-UK and Canada.

The department inaugurated Literary Club in the year 2012. The department has its special feature of conducting Achariya Literary Meet every year to create an opportunity to accelerate the hidden talent of the young minds and to train them to be morally and intellectually aspiring individuals.

The Department of English is instrumental in conducting and participating in various intra and inter-collegiate activities. We have secured three overall trophies for various cultural activities from different colleges.

Regarding sports, our student Swathi has participated in Commonwealth Games in Karate. Jadhav Yash is a cricket player in the Ranji Trophy and Poorrnima is an international artist who has got many awards for her outstanding performance in.

Two of our students have won National Awards as a part of being an active NSS volunteer. Our students have also been credited in Creating Awareness on Road Safety for three consecutive years.
